Update, plus help me with this BUG HUNT!


Hey community this is Brian, the solo dev behind ESC Protocol.  

If you're playing, first THANK YOU!  I really appreciate your support and any feedback you can provide.  Feel free to rate the game as you see fit and comment if you have something to say.  I know the game has a lot that can be improved and your comments help me know what to prioritize.

Next, I could really use your help hunting a low-repro bug that is really sad panda when it happens.  It's when you use the Upgrade Unit powerup to instantly upgrade a wall or turret to a higher level.  It should run the match code to detect if this produces a match, but sometimes this fails to run, and you'll get three units in a row that should have become a match.  I attached an example video of this.

I'm unable to reproduce this bug in controlled situations, so any help finding reliable repro steps for this issue would be super helpful.  Let me know what steps you took beforehand, when it happened, any details at all can help.  Video of the issue with the events leading up is the most help.

By the way, the most recent update includes some bug fixes:

  • Final cinematic now correctly scales to the screen size (or, it should)
  • Upgrading SuperDuperTurret to a MegaTurret no longer has a Wall overlapping it
  • You can no longer upgrade a MegaTurret (because that's the highest unit currently, and the upgrade made it into a Wall)
